Hi all, this is Nisreen. How are you? 

こんにちは、ニスリーンです！お元気ですか？

 

I have great news—I finally completed my bachelor's degree in Fundamental Psychology! I began taking this online university course a year and a half ago.

My initial motivation was to fulfill the prerequisite requirements to potentially study art therapy in the future. Since I already had a bachelor's degree in graphic design from a university in Tokyo, I needed to obtain a degree in psychology as well.

今日はちょっとした嬉しいお知らせがあります。最近ついに、基礎心理学の学士号を修めることができたことです。この通信大学のコースを取り始めたのは１年半ほど前でした。

最初は、今後もしもアートセラピーの修士コースを取ろうとした場合に必要な学位だからという理由でした。もともと私が持っていたのはグラフィックデザインの学士号だったのですが（東京の大学で取得しました）、アートセラピーを学ぶためには心理学の学位を持っている必要もあるのです。

 

I didn’t expect to enjoy learning so much about American society from a psychological perspective. It was fascinating to explore the deeper layers of both the challenges and hopes within this inspiring country.

This journey also helped me improve my English proficiency. Since all my previous academic education was in Japan, composing academic essays in English was a new challenge for me. I can't thank my husband, and our fur babies enough for supporting and believing in me throughout this process!

正直、心理学を通して米国社会について学ぶことが純粋に面白くなったのは予想外でした。米国という刺激に富む社会の問題点と、輝かしい部分の両方について、深層部分を見つめることで興味が深まりました。

更に、英語力を磨く上でもとても役に立ったと思います。私が今まで主な教育を受けてきたのは日本ですから、英語での学術的な論文の書き方はやはり最初は分からないことも多く、手探りで学んでいきました。夫、そして犬たち（！）が私を信じて支えてくれたことに感謝してもしきれません！
