How are you enjoying the winter holidays?     　 こんにちは、Nisreenです。冬休みを楽しくお過ごしでしょうか。 It's incredible to me that 2023 is already ending ! もう２０２３年が終わるだなんて、ちょっと信じられない気持ちです。 The year 2023 was a year of many harvests for me. ２０２３年は、私にとって公私ともに沢山の収穫に恵まれた年でした。 ーI went through two moves, one was i nternational and the other was domestic. 海外と国内の2回の引っ越しを経験しました。 -I officially became a mum of two dogs. 正式に２匹の犬のお母さんになりました。 ー I have made lovely friends in a new country. 新しい国で素敵な友達に恵まれました。 ー I performed in several dance shows and participated in overnight dance events . 複数のダンスショー に出演し、 泊りがけのダンスイベント にも参加しました。 -I did numerous paintings and socialised with other artists both online and offline. How’re you doing at this special time of year, when the air is filled with music and the smell of holiday baking?     　 こんにちは、Nisreenです。すっかり街が冬休みの空気に染まる時期ですが、いかがお過ごしでしょうか。   Today, I'd like to talk about a new dance form I started learning half-a-year ago. 今日は半年前新たに習い始めた舞踊についてお話したいと思います。 Manipuri Dance , also referred to as the Manipuri Raas Leela, is one of the major Indian classical dance forms, originating from the north-east state of Manipur, India. マニプリ舞踊 、マニプリ・ラース・リーラとも呼ばれる踊りで、インド北東部のマニプル州を起源とするインドの主要な古典舞踊のひとつです。  I fell in love with the  graceful movement of the style and started taking online lessons with an India-based teacher, Ms. Tanisha Singha. Are you enjoying the changing autumn leaves?     　 こんにちは、Nisreenです。紅葉が美しい季節ですがいかがお過ごしでしょうか？ The other day, I was delighted to see that my visual art became part of a history professor (my husband)'s lectures materials at a conference. 嬉しいことに、私のビジュアル・アートが歴史の先生（夫）のコンフェレンスでの講義資料に顔を出す機会がありました。   It was a series of illustrations describing the secret friendship between the Japanese and Chinese space programmes in the 1970s and the 1990s. In order to take the edge off a fairly sensitive subject, he asked me to draw the illustrations in the cute and light-hearted style. I was happy and relieved to hear the positive feedback about them from the audience. それは、1950年代から2000年代にかけての日本と中国の宇宙開発における秘かな協力関係を描いた一連のイラストレーションでした。なかなかデリケートな話題ではありますので、やわらかい雰囲気のイラストレーションにしてほしいとの依頼でした。ありがたいことに聴衆のみなさんからポジティブな反応があり、嬉しかったです。 Besides this, I also had a chance to take part in his university class about visual analysis.   Hi to all, this is Nisreen.     　 こんにちは、Nisreenです。 The other day, we went to the concert of our favourite British rock band called ”The Darkness.” 先日、ザ・ダークネスという大好きな英国のロックバンドのコンサートに行きました。 They first broke through in the early 2000s, with songs such as "I Believe in a Thing Called Love", "Growing on Me", "Get Your Hands off My Woman" and "Love Is Only a Feeling" being particularly famous. 彼らが最初にブレイクしたのは２０００年代前半。I Believe in a Thing Called Love", "Growing on Me", "Get Your Hands off My Woman", そして "Love Is Only a Feeling"などの曲が特に有名です。 My favourite is "Love Is Only a Feeling" Tickets were sold out and the venue was full. The audience was of various ages, but I got the impression that it was heavily skewed towards people in their 30s and 40s. The percentage of couples also appeared to be high. Hi to all, this is Nisreen.     　 こんにちは、Nisreenです。 I 'm happy to report that I'm taking a part in Annual Juried Show of Wabash Valley Artists Society with two of my paintings. It's been a truly joyful experience to see my paintings among wonderful local artists' works. 嬉しいお知らせがあります。Wabash Valley Artists SocietyのAnnual Juried Showに私も２点絵を出展することになりました！ 素晴らしい地元のアーティストの作品に混じって私の絵も見られるなんて、本当に嬉しい経験です。 If you're in  town, please pop by TAF  and take a look.       　 Hi all, this is Nisreen! こんにちは、Nisreenです。 The other day, for the first time since moving to the USA, I went and stayed out of town for a belly dance event: INBC Summer's End Belly Dance Fest. I had the great luxury of taking a workshop with Phaedra, a wonderful Chicago-based dancer, throughout the day. I also got to perform as a soloist and a Troupe Oasis member at the gala show in the evening. 先日、米国移住後初めて、泊りがけでベリーダンスイベントに参加しました。 INBCのサマーエンドフェスティヴァルです。一日中PhaedraさんというChicago拠点のとても素敵なダンサーのワークショップを受け、夜はガラショーでソロとTroupe Oasisとしてパフォーマンスをするというとても贅沢な時間でした。 It was also my very first time to learn how to use a fan veil, but I could learn a lot at the workshop, since Phaedra thoroughly taught us the basics. I also discovered a lot about shimmy variations. WSについては、私はファンヴェールの使い方を習うのが初めてでしたが、Phaedraさんが丁寧に基本を教えてくださったのでとても勉強になりました。シミーのヴァリエーションも色々な発見がありました。 As a member of Troupe Oasis, I performed Move Your Belly, choreographed by Dhalena.     　 こんにちは、Nisreenです。 Hi all, this is Nisreen! 先日、ようやく、本棚が我が家にやってきました。 日本からはるばる海を越えて米国まで持ってきた本たちを、段ボール箱から出して再会することができました。 The other day, we finally had some bookshelves arrive at our home.  We reunited the books we brought all the way across the ocean from Japan to the United States, finally taking them out of the cardboard boxes. 実は渡米にあたり、本の９０パーセントを泣く泣く手放してきました。特にコロナ後、日本から米国への送料がとんでもなく高くなってしまったためです。 本の中でも、巻数の多い漫画は特に送料がかかるものです。悩んだ末、手に取って何度でも眺めたいような美しい漫画、なおかつ巻数が少ないものに絞った末、手元に残った漫画は２つだけでした。本当に素敵な作品なので、ここで紹介させてください。 In fact, in coming to the US, I had to give up 90 per cent of my books.   -It brought me to tears.   This is because shipping costs from Japan to the US have become ridiculously high, especially after Covid hit. Among the books, multi-volume manga sets are particularly expensive to ship. After consideration, I let go of all my manga except two artistic works that I wanted to contemplate again and again, These had only a few volumes. Let me talk about the two masterpieces here
